What they offer

Provides help with the cost of travel and accommodation when a specialist sends a patient to another specialist a long way from home, including mileage and public transport. Helps older people afford to reach hospital appointments outside the Franklin area.

Mileage was up to $0.34 per kilometre with a temporary rate of 44 cents from 2 April 2026, and accommodation up to $140 a night.
